It has literally taken Rebecca The Producer and I this full week to even BEGIN to rest, following the New York screenings of Sex and Justice. Throw in the fact that we both had to hit the day job circuit hard in an effort to like - find an apartment to live in! - and you have the reason for the long delay between the screenings and our finally saying…

…thank you to all who came. While two of our four crowds were admittedly a bit thinner than we would have liked, two weren’t, friends and family showed up in overwhelming numbers, and, additionally, we didn’t really encounter any dissatisfied “customers” after all was said and done.

In fact, some people seemed to be genuinely fired up after watching what we are heretofore referring to as “our twisted little darling.”

And if you are one of those people…please speak up. As our own Richard Brundage pointed out in the Q&A portion of our Friday screenings - if you genuinely enjoyed the film (and the fine performances therein) the easiest way you can support the cause is to hit up IMDb to rate the flick and leave some feedback. It just takes a few minutes of your time, and we will be forever grateful. Of course, if you didn’t like Sex and Justice you can leave us some feedback as well, but if that’s the case you probably aren’t reading this.

Some quick updates:

Sex and Justice DVDs will be going on sale soon in the Store section of our web site.

Special features include a blooper reel, a slideshow of production stills, and several great interviews with select members of the Cast and Crew. Visit the Sex and Justice web site soon to pick up a DVD if you missed one of our screenings, live somewhere else but still want to join the fun, or…just want to support the cause. Copies of the Sex and Justice theatrical poster will also be sold through the store, and the poster is actually really sweet, so you should pick one of those up too.

We are working on a new trailer for the film.

The new trailer, while still very much in line with our sexy artsy indie noirish vibe, is grounded quite a bit more in the sort of trailer aesthetic that we are all used to seeing (in other words, it’s a trailer-trailer and not a teaser). Every attempt was made to get this trailer ready before our New York screenings, but in the end we didn’t want to rush it (or the friend who has been working to put it together) out of respect both to you, the audience, and the quality of the thing itself. Look for this to come out maybe around the beginning of the month.

Please also check out the Press page, which has been updated to include a link to an article in the Columbia Spectator as well as an interview that yours truly did with Eitan Kensky at Bostonist.com.

I think there are more updates but my brain is still feeling squishy and I can’t remember them.

Okay…so under normal circumstances, Writer/Director would not reply to the following, but since the digs are ripe for the picking…pick we shall.

This message was sent (and received!) this morning through the Sex and Justice web site:

First the guy sitting smoking does not imprees me and the gir just shakes her head at the questions and the guy is not really smoking, I wanted to turn the trailer off after the first 10 seconds, i know you can do better, if you were to ask me if i wanted free screening tickets I would not go.

A true movie afficiando

Now…my dear friend…

First, I ask that you please notice my use of a comma after the word “first.” Second, I am sorry that the “guy sitting smoking” does not “imprees you.” You are right, also, in noting that the girl - you meant to say “girl,” correct? - shakes her head “at the questions.” Bravo for that; I see that I have accomplished at least something, insofar as you have “gotten the point” of the moving pictures. I am sorry that you wanted to turn the trailer off after ten seconds…but wonder if you did.

It doesn’t matter, though. Partly because I like the idea of the challenge, partly because you are such a true movie “affficiando,” but mostly because I know you probably won’t respond to this…I am offering you free screening tickets.

Please send an email to info@sexandjustice.com with your full name, and then consider yourself on the comp list for whatever screening you so choose to attend. And if you do end up coming, and do end up finding the film unimpressive, too full of head-shaking, and just generally disappointing, then…too damn bad for me. I will have tried…and lost.

So it goes.

Sincerely,

W.D. Talentless

I was going to try and be all coy about it until the end of this post, but we in the Sex and Justice sales and marketing camp (i.e. Michael and Rebecca) are too excited to…contain our excitement. We’re just really happy to be screening the project four times, in one weekend, and during primo time slots, at such a well-respected venue.

Friday, February 6th and Saturday, February 7th
7:30pm and 9:00pm
Tribeca Cinemas, NYC

So forgot about the rest of this post for now, and go grab your tickets ASAP, because they are available as of, like, yesterday. More details here.

Go! Then come back read the rest of this post.

Site Updates

- A link from our home page to our new IMDb page.

- An updated Press page for boasting about all Sex and Justice news.

- An updated Store page for helping you buy tickets to one of our New York screenings (which you have done already by now, I know, but now you know where to send your friends).

- Other minor fixes.

Site Updates to Come

- Pictures from our Providence premiere.
- A more majorly updated home page.
- Dancing monkeys. Just dancing monkeys.

I don’t have to send you to the Tribeca site again, right?

Phew.

Rebecca and I have finally recovered (sort-of) after Saturday's grand premiere in Providence. It was a great night, we had a good crowd, and, more importantly, people seemed to genuinely enjoy the film.

So thank you, thank you, thank you...to our wonderful audience, to everyone who helped make the night happen, and to all of our amazing cast and crew members.

Next stop...New York City. We'll keep everyone updated, but for now it's turkey-time.
