Recent Updates…and More!

Posted in Cast & Crew, News, Updates on August 31st, 2008 by Michael

Our Cast and Crew page, which until recently only listed information on our principle cast members, now includes a full list of production credits for our talented Crew members and also-talented Additional Cast members. Check it out!

Okay, that’s our only recent update…but…there’s More!

Okay…there really isn’t More quite yet. But here’s a list of additions to look out for sometime soon:

  • Some new photos pulled from our footage. They are sweet looking and you will like them. Or else. (Bed without supper).
  • Slick sexy T-shirts for dressing up all Sex and Justice like. These will go on sale in the currently empty Store as soon as we get them printed out. They are sweet looking and you will like (and buy!) them. Or else.
  • The first official post from our “Retro-Blog” Segment. The Retro-Blog Segment is what it sounds like, and I am decently sure that the idea will work and that you’ll enjoy it. I will tell great stories of indie struggle and indie victory, and we will share laughs and pass the cyber-flask.

Tired. Until we meet again.

Say No To (Chain) Smoking

Posted in Ramblings on August 25th, 2008 by Michael

I want to cover this now because it’s going to come up later fo sho. Similarly, I want to get the conversation out of the way so that I don’t have to have it again.

That’s right. Right now, as I’m typing, it’s August 25th, 2008, the site hasn’t even been launched yet, and I am largely just blogging to myself.

But maybe “Right Now,” for you, is represented by some other date…like January 28th, 2009. Maybe the site has been alive and kicking and raking in the traffic and the dough and the praise for months by now and maybe I stopped blogging already because I’m directing the new -

Okay. Yeah, I’ll chill out. The point is that from here on in, if you write or call or send a post card complaining about the smoking…I’m going to send you here and then be done with you.

Here’s the deal - there be lots of lighting up in Sex and Justice. There needs to be, because of our artistic intentions (the whole neo-noir thing). But the health public, surely, is important to us. That is why all of our actors are smoking candy cigarettes.

Kidding. I don’t know. It’s probably not even big enough of a deal to warrant all this rambling. But I have been so busy for so long that I just need an excuse to blog to myself.

Hey - don’t smoke kids. Don’t swear or do drugs or disrespect your mamas and papas. Especially don’t ever park in two parking spaces at once.

Your ride ain’t that fly.

Many Various Forms of Eternal Thanks

Posted in News on August 24th, 2008 by Michael

Under other circumstances, the looming challenge of “the first official Sex and Justice blog post” may have caused yours truly (writer/director/producer) some level of high anxiety. But the decision ended up sort of making itself for me - because we have a lot of people to thank.

I sincerely hope that if you are reading this right now and know yourself to belong to the category of “The Sex and Justice Thanked” (certainly not a boring category to be in, as far as the title goes at least), that this is at least the third time you are hearing Rebecca and/or I say the words. I should have thanked you when you offered, when you delivered, and many more times after that. Because…(cliche warning!)…we couldn’t have done it without you.

I’m not going to name names here, and I don’t mean to diminish the contributions of everyone involved by doing what I’m about to do…but this is a blog…so brevity is a concern.

Bang they come:

  • Friends and Family: Thank you for your support (i.e. - For helping us fund and make the film, and for literally providing us with food to eat and places to sleep…and drinks to drink!). Extra special thanks to our parentals for taking the joblessness and the “we need to sleep here for a while” doorstep statements in stride. Extra special thanks also to our cat-sitters in NY and RI.
  • Cast and Crew: Most of you, by now, are part of the “Friends and Family” group…but deserve specific (and eternal!) thanks anyway. Rebecca and I worked hard to surround ourselves with talented, hard-working, dedicated individuals - but all of you really performed and contributed beyond expectations. The indie hammer descended upon us all pretty early during our production weekend+, and all of you maintained your composure and kept trucking. Bravo, back-pats, and many thanks.
  • New Friends: Maybe you got here because Rebecca or I handed you a business card after having a pleasant conversation with you. Know that we do not hand out business cards to unpleasant people, and so if you are here and are new to the Sex and Justice mirco-verse…thank you for visiting…and for being nice to a pair of struggling indie producers. Also, please come to your local screening and please bring eighty friends.
  • Dan and The Q: Dan is my brother. He essentially gave us The Q (a fifteen year old Infiniti Q-45 with a heart of gold). The Q has allowed us to move about and beg everyone belonging to the above categories for help with the movie. The Q has braved through many back-and-forths between NYC and Little Rhody, the temporary loss of its power steering capabilities, the kicking-off of its passenger side rear-view mirror by Some Young Ruffian, and an attempted theft by Some Other Young Ruffian. The Q is a trooper and Dan is The Man. Many thanks eternal.

That’s about it for now. If I somehow missed you in my sweeping categorizations, please feel free to cyberslap me upside the head. Although it probably won’t have any effect. Brain is long gone.

Till we meet again,

Writer/Director/Producer/Survivor
